According to the interwebs, Terrence Malick will begin production on a new film in late 2010 - and Christian Bale is attached to star.

Described as a “powerful and moving love story”, it will begin production later this year, while Malick's most recent feature Tree of Life moves into post-production.

This is a speedy turn around for the notoriously measured director, who took a 20-year hiatus between Days of Heaven (1978) and The Thin Red Line (1998).

While little is known about the as-yet-untitled project, rumours abound that Christian Bale and Javier Bardem will be heading up the cast, alongside Rachel McAdams and Bond-girl Olga Kurylenko.

Bale worked with Malick on The New World in 2005, and we would certainly welcome his casting in something other than the gritty/gravel voiced action roles he's brought us lately.

If that’s not enough of a treat for you, the director is filming an IMAX documentary to be released as a companion to the upcoming Tree of Life, which stars newcomers Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.

Javier Bardem ya tiene nuevo proyecto en Hollywood. El oscarizado actor español será el protagonista de la nueva película de Terrence Malick, un brillante y atípico cineasta que tiene entre sus obras cintas tan dispares como La delgada línea roja o El Nuevo Mundo.

Junto al actor español estarán otros tres rostros muy conocidos: Christian Bale, el Batman más taquillero de la historia Rachel McAdams, a la que acabamos de ver en Sherlock Holmes y Olga Kurylenko, la bella ucraniana que fue chica Bond en Quantum of Solace.

Pocos datos se saben de la película de Malick, salvo que, según apunta una información publicada por 'The Hollywood Reporter' se tratará de un drama romántico ambientado en el sur de Estados Unidos. El rodaje de esta cinta, que todavía no tiene título, podría comenzar a finales del próximo veramo. El director todavía tiene pendiente de estreno The Tree of Life (El árbol de la vida), una aventura fantástica protagonizada por Brad Pitt y Sean Penn.

Por su parte, Javier Bardem ya ha culminado el rodaje de Eat, Pray, Love, un drama en el que comparte planos con Julia Roberts y tiene pendiente de estreno Biutiful, la cinta dirigida por el mexicano Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Los Ángeles (EE.UU.).- Los actores Javier Bardem, Christian Bale, Rachel McAdams y Olga Kurylenko protagonizarán la nueva película que rodará el cineasta Terrence Malick ("The Thin Red Line", 1998), informó ayer The Hollywood Reporter.

El filme, del que aún no se conoce el nombre, será un drama romántico, se rodará a partir de septiembre y estará producido y financiado por River Road Entertainment, la misma empresa que respaldó el próximo proyecto de Malick "The Tree of Life", que llegará a los cines este año.

Se trata de la primera película de Bardem ("No Country for Old Men", 2008), McAdams ("Sherlock Holmes", 2009) y Kurylenko ("Quantum of Solace", 2008) a las órdenes de Malik, una experiencia con la que ya cuenta Bale ("The Dark Knight", 2008) quien trabajó con este cineasta en "The New World" (2005).

Malik, de 66 años, fue nominado a dos Óscar en 1999 en las categorías de Mejor guión y Mejor director por "The Thin Red Line", una adaptación cinematográfica de la novela autobiográfica de James Jones sobre la batalla de Guadalcanal durante la II Guerra Mundial.

Though the legendary filmmaker has only directed a handful of feature films, Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line) has quite a respectful following. With his most recent film, The Tree of Life starring Sean Penn and Brad Pitt, in post-production, Malick is already gearing up for his next project as Deadline Hollywood reports he has grabbed Christian Bale, Javier Bardem(No Country for Old Men), Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes), and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) to star in an untitled romance that he has written and will direct later this year. Literally no story details have surfaced anywhere on the internet yet. This is quite an impressive gathering of talent for a romance that is currently only described as a "powerful and moving love story." But none of these actors are strangers to romance with films like Captain Corelli's Mandolin (Bale), Vicky Christina Barcelona (Bardem), The Notebook (McAdams), and Paris Je T'aime ...

The top 10 box office disasters of the past half decade have been revealed. The list won't make happy reading for Eddie Murphy or Sean Penn, but what can the rest of us learn from it?

Forbes magazine published last week a list of the top 15 box office turkeys of the last five years. It's striking stuff. Hollywood glitterati such as Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron are responsible for some of the greatest loss-leaders of the past half-decade, while Eddie Murphy has two movies, 2008's Meet Dave and last year's Imagine That, in the grand pantheon of the blood-chillingly unsuccessful. Murphy, of course, has form with this sort of thing. Let us not forget 2002's The Adventures of Pluto Nash, an insanely dumb action comedy about a nightclub owner on the moon, which still stands as the biggest box office turkey of all time.

One wonders how the Forbes list's fifth-placed film, Imagine That, about a finance exec who takes tips from his daughter's imaginary world, could have failed to set the alarm bells ringing. Ditto No 13, Meet Dave, which follows a crew of tiny aliens captained by Murphy who land on Earth with a vital mission to save their home world. Their ship, which is in the form of a human being, is also played by the comic.

Less explainable is the film bagging the top spot: 2006's All the King's Men, starring Sean Penn as a Louisiana governor corrupted by power. If Forbes were to come up with an index of rightwing pundits' least favourite people, you can bet Penn might rank quite high there too. But it was a respectable enough - if a touch vainglorious - tubthumper, let down, perhaps, by its producers giving the nod to a $55m budget (it made back just $9m).

Moving on, and you might think Stepford Wives and Bewitched would have put studios off the concept of remakes starring Nicole Kidman for life. Nope, and 2007's The Invasion, yet another reworking of The Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, predictably found its way onto the Forbes list at No 7. This was a movie not even shown to critics in the UK, and it slumped to just $40m from a budget of $80m.

Tuts, too, to the producers of the film in at No 6: Darren Aronofsky's 2006 The Fountain, which failed to earn back 54% of its $35m budget. A millennia-spanning catastrophe of pseudo-philosophical hokum which winds up with a bald Hugh Jackman meditating in the lotus position on board a 30th century spaceship on its way to a distant nebula, it was always going to struggle. Factor in the movie's cheery conclusion and the fact that neither of Aranofsky's previous two films had taken more than $10m worldwide, and you'll agree it was hardly a likely candidate for Avatar-style bountifulness.

Then again, James Cameron's 3D megalith was predicted by some to be on course for similar financial disaster, not so long ago. Is there any formula for box office, beyond decent film-making? And if so, why do talented screenwriters and first-rate directors often seem to be less important to Hollywood than a big star name to plaster on all the publicity posters?

Darryl Hall – Team Leader -Currently employed with SDGE for 30 years. Current position is High Voltage Foreman. He is married to Karen Hall and father of three kids Kiefer, Trevor and Alison. Darryl coaches his son's baseball team. Darryl is a Rescue Task Force veteran. He responded to the Tsunami disaster and has traveled throughout the world. Darryl brings determination, experience, and leadership to the team. Darryl: Compassionate about making a difference.

Chris Simmons – Currently employed with SDGE 32 years. His current position, like Darryl's is as a High Voltage Power Foreman. He is also a Rescue Task Force veteran. He was on the team with Darryl and responded to the Tsunami and has traveled to Spain, Mexico, and Alaska. He is married to Lisa Simmons and is the father of four: Brandy, Amanda, Anthony and Taylor. He is the President of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – Local 465. His hobbies include riding ATV’s in the California sand dunes and he likes to fish. Chris brings perseverance and experience to the team. Chris: Obtain the objective.

Jose Garcia - Currently employed with SDG&G 26 years. His current position is High Voltage Power Foreman for the gas side. He is married to Rosa Garcia. He is the father of two boys, Alfonso and Adrian. He likes to off road and race his Baja, hiking with his wife and camping. Jose has traveled to Canada, Hawaii, Cancun, New Mexico and Colorado with his humanitarian efforts being delivery of humanitarian supplies to Mexico. He is a dedicated family man. He brings to the mission compassion, care, tenacity, hard work, and a big heart. Jose: Caring for people in need.

Shad Fleming – Currently employed SDG&E 6 years. His current position is High Voltage Power Lineman. Married to Peggy Fleming. He will be a first time father in February. His hobbies include training in Mixed Martial Arts. He travels to Europe regularly and speaks fluent German. He brings to the mission a sound presence of mind and a desire to benefit people. Shad: Help as many people as we can with the resources at our disposal.

Dave Martinez II – Former U. S. Marine and combat veteran. Currently employed with SDG&E 10 years. His current position is High Voltage Power Lineman. Married to Laura Martinez. He is the father of a three-month old daughter, Marissa. He has traveled throughout the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East and various other places around the world. His hobbies include driving off-road vehicles, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, hiking and camping. He brings experience, and is extensively trained in medical techniques, CPR, and first aid. He is calm under pressure. Dave: "Sometimes people are presented with an opportunity to help people. I have been presented with many opportunities and I see this as a new, wonderful opportunity to offer my services.

Stanley Vincent – Born in Haiti. Former U. S. Marine. Currently employed with the California Highway Patrol for 2 ½ years. His current position is Officer. His hobbies include sports, dancing, working out, mountain biking and playing tennis. Stanley brings to the mission local knowledge of on-the ground resources, common sense, crowd and riot control training, the ability to be the team interpreter, cultural experience, and will help with in-country volunteers. Stanley: Operation – Immediate relief.

Anne Hathaway will announce the nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards at the crack of dawn in Beverly Hills tomorrow. Here are our bets for who will be on her list

The Oscar nominations are announced tomorrow, and Brits would be forgiven for feeling pretty cheery about it. Colin Firth is bound to get a nod, after all; ditto Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan, Daniel Day-Lewis, maybe even Christian McKay. All richly deserved – even if at least two of the films they're in are utter rubbish.

But here's the bad news: this year, the Brits won't win anything. Not a sausage. Last year Slumdog Millionaire swept the board and Danny Boyle became an international darling. This year, the big turquoise shadow of Avatar hangs heavy over everything, alleviated only by flickers of awards action for The Hurt Locker. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Here, then, are our predictions for what will make the nomination grade tomorrow (make sure to check back at 1.30pm GMT for full coverage). But what have we left out? And are we being too pessimistic about our prospects this side of the pond?

Best picture

Dead certs: Avatar, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, Precious and Up in the Air. But there are now 10 nominees in the category, so padding is required – we'll hazard a guess at (500) Days of Summer, District 9, An Education, Star Trek and Up rounding out the list.
Dark horse: Bright Star. Like The Road and A Single Man it was heavily tipped at the end of 2009 but has rather fallen by the wayside since. Yet a late surge of support for female directors, spearheaded by Kathryn Bigelow, could mean room is made for her drippy Keats soap.
Probable winner: Avatar

Best director

Dead certs: It's an exes smackdown between James Cameron for Avatar and Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker. Those we suspect will take on third-wheel duties are Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds), Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) and Lee Daniels (Precious).
Dark horse: The Coen brothers for A Serious Man.
Probable winner: The Golden Globe went to Cameron, but his former missus has picked up the Directors Guild of America award, and would probably make the more popular (and first female) gong-lifter.

Best actor

Dead certs: Jeff Bridges's washed-up country singer in Crazy Heart is getting the Mickey Rourke vote this year – but it's possible that Morgan Freeman (Invictus), George Clooney (Up in the Air), Colin Firth (A Single Man) or Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) will do a Sean Penn and snatch the gong at the last minute.
Dark horse: Viggo Mortensen for The Road.
Probable winner: Still Jeff Bridges.

Best actress

Dead certs: Meryl Streep will bag her record 16th nomination for Julie & Julia, and possibly a 17th for It's Complicated (remember: co-stars Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are presenting the ceremony). Sandra Bullock will be up for The Blind Side, while Helen Mirren is highly likely for The Last Station. Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) and Carey Mulligan (An Education) may lower the average age a little.
Dark horse: Emily Blunt for The Young Victoria.
Probable winner: It's Bullock's year.

Best supporting actor

Dead cert: If it wasn't for the fact Christoph (Inglourious Basterds) Waltz's name has almost certainly gone to the engravers already, this would be one of the more interesting categories. Vying for runner-up prizes are Christopher Plummer (for The Last Station), Matt Damon for Invictus, Peter Sarsgaard for An Education and Stanley Tucci (a serial killer in The Lovely Bones, a doting husband in Julie & Julia, and more likely nominated for the former).
Dark horse: Fingers crossed for Christian McKay – dubiously the support in Me and Orson Welles, but still.
Probable winner: Waltz has won every single best supporting actor award so far.

Best supporting actress

Dead certs: Mo'Nique will snap one up for Precious, but also likely are Anna Kendrick for Up in the Air and Julianne Moore for A Single Man. Also, at more of a push, Penélope Cruz for Nine and Diane Kruger for Inglourious Basterds.
Dark horse: Rosamund Pike was the best thing in An Education.
Probable winner: No one dares bet against Mo'Nique.

Robert Pattinson is in talks to star in “Water for Elephants” alongside Reese Witherspoon and Sean Penn.

Robert Pattinson and Sean Penn are circling Fox 2000’s Depression-era drama “Water for Elephants.”

Reese Witherspoon has already boarded to the film, which will be directed by Francis Lawrence. Scribe Richard LaGravenese is adapting for the bigscreen.

Based on Sara Gruen’s best-selling historical tome of the same name, story centers on a Cornell U. veterinary student who leaves his studies after his parents are killed and joins up with the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth, working as a vet for the circus. Witherspoon will play Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August (Penn), the charismatic but twisted animal trainer.

Studio, which is eyeing a June start date, wouldn’t confirm details of the project. Gil Netter, Erwin Stoff and Andrew Tennenbaum are producing.

“Twilight” star Pattinson has been on every studio’s wish list. His deal is expected to close. Penn, who is in Haiti on a humanitarian mission, is the bigger question mark. He has an offer from the studio but is still mulling the role.

While big-name singers like Alicia Keys and Madonna used their pipes to raise more than $58 million in the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon on Friday, actor-activist Sean Penn was on the ground of the disaster-torn country to lend a hand.

The star delivered medical supplies and transport doctors to those whose lives were devastated by the January 12 earthquake as part of his charity, the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization. In Port-au-Prince and around the capital, Penn gave out water filters, went to a clinic, visited out a food-distribution site, and checked out the efforts of soldiers from the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division.

This morning we toured the "street schools" in the slums of Cite Soleil and surrounding areas, the poorest neighborhoods in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere; the schools sponsored by NPH International and Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ). Most were destroyed. The good news was that the quake hit just as school had let out, so nowhere near as many children were killed as we feared. Still, too many. We met many people who had lost children, sisters and brothers. We took our building and architectural partners and made solid steps towards designing and constructing new disaster-resistant schools. More about that at a later time.

What I want to tell you about is what happened this afternoon and this evening.

While I stood by and watched, two people we brought to Haiti, and one old friend and newest APJ board member, pulled off an unbelievable miracle. They saved the lives of 18 people. Working with heroic medical teams, John Edwards, David Belle and Moran Atias, through sheer persistence and force of will, fought an incredible bureaucracy and won.

These were 18 children and adults who could not be treated in Port-au-Prince and so were being left for dead. When we arrived, the staff of St Damien's told us that they had been begging anyone who would listen to get them medivac-ed out of the country to hospitals in the US, but no one would listen. But the incredible team of J/P HRO doctors that Sean Penn and Diana Jenkins brought us refused to just let them lie there until they died.

John Edwards started making calls. The initial response was, "Are they US Citizens?" Of course they weren't. None of us thought he had a rats chance in hell.

He lost contact. The phones didn't work -- not even SAT phones. The next morning David Belle started emailing and made contact with his friend the extraordinary Dr. Barth Green, chief neurologist at Jackson Memorial and on the ground in Haiti, with his Project Medishare team at the Port-au-Prince airport. Dr. Green didn't hesitate and said, "Bring them over." David and John spent the next 3 hours searching for Dr. Green's team amongst a maze of military camps at the airport. When
they found him, he provided a 40-foot flatbed cargo truck, and said, "Go get them, but the only person who can get military approval for evac is Edwards."

Back to the night before.

After working late into the night along side Maria Bello, helping to organize the medicine and medical supplies that we brought, along with many more boxes that Sean and Diana gave us, Moran Atias couldn't sleep, so she began assisting the doctor in charge of these "hopeless cases," J/P's Dr. Alice Thompson. In the morning, after touring the schools, she heard that David and John were making headway and she leapt in and started organizing the Haitian patients. She started getting the names of the critically ill children, and tracking down their parents and guardians and getting information, and making sure the doctors agreed they were stable enough for evacuation.

Then David and John showed up with the flatbed and, working with the St, Damien's staff and the J/P HRO doctors, they started loading. And within hours, a convoy of six vehicles, flatbeds and pickup trucks, drove slowly to over the potholes of the destroyed streets of Port au Prince to get them to the airport -- which is a scene out of hell right now -- and into the safe hands of Lt. Col. Lee Harvis with the 1st Special Operations Support Squadron, and their amazing doctors, nurses and medical staff. Too many people to mention, like Captain Tracie Tippins, who got the plane here from Miami and is giving us tail numbers and organizing ground reception in Florida for Dr. Green's team.

It is a long story and my battery is running low as I sit here writing by the light of three candles, so I will cut it short.

Peter Facinelli: Cooper is a lot more energetic and immature than Carlisle
I think the only thing they have in common is they both wear white coats

Q: Hello Peter, I am a 30- something fan of yours from Colorado. First I'd like to just say that you brought the chracter of Carlisle to life on the screen and added a lot of dimension to him so thank you for your performance. My question is: Are you glad you did the Twilight Saga (not that it's quite done yet) and where would you like to see your career go from here? Thank you so much for your time!

Peter Facinelli: I'm very excited to be a part of the Twilight Saga. It's very rare for a movie to have this kind of efect on people and to be a cultural phenomenon.
Peter Facinelli: I try to do things that I haven't done before - hopefully I'll continue to do so, and continue to surprise the audience and surprise myself

Q: Hey. I've seen a lot of your interviews and I've noticed that you are never asked any of the basic questions! Like, what's your favorite song?

Peter Facinelli: you know, I have such an eclectic taste when it comes to music, so that's a very difficult question for me. I'll listen to everything from Eminem to Elvis Presley to The Beatles

Peter Facinelli: Don't have a favorite band that I listen too -- kind of like a little bit of everything

Q: What is your favorite thing about playing a vampire?

Peter Facinelli: I think being a vampire is fun because you get to live forever.
as an actor, the coolest thing about playing a vampire is that vampires are cool right now, so it's fun to play one

Q: Hi Peter, Hope you are well! If you could be any character other than your own in the saga, who would that be and why? Thank You for all the time you give to us fans on twitter!

Peter Facinelli: Edward, for a bunch of reasons, if I were younger would be a great character to play. If I couldn't play Edward I'm quite happy playing the dad. I don't think the apple falls far from the tree.

Q: Can you play any instruments and are you a good singer?

Peter Facinelli: I always sing in the shower

Peter Facinelli: I can play maybe 2 songs on the guitar -- Blackbird (Beatles) and La Bamba

Q: Do you have a dream role you'd like to play, if so what?

Peter Facinelli: I don't know what that is -- I like having scripts come to me and they either strike a chord with me or not.When I was younger, I always wanted to play Spiderman...but that didn't happen.

Peter Facinelli: There are some genres I'd like to play in- westers, action, romantic comedy

Peter Facinelli: There are some things I've been writing, and hopefully I can get financing and make those films.

Q: who inspired you to act?

Peter Facinelli: My inspriations were Paul Newman and Robert Redford - Saw a movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and those guys looked like they were having a lot of fun and I decided that's what I wanted to do

Peter Facinelli: Now I like Sean Penn and what he's doing. Gary Oldman. I like to be surprised by an actor - you never know what you're going to get and they don't play the same role.

Peter Facinelli: I try to take on contrasting roles, like Carlisle and Cooper

Q: Team Taylor or Team Robert?

Peter Facinelli: haha - I gotta go Team Robert. he's my family. I love Taylor, but Rob plays my son so I got to keep it in the family.

But as far as the real actors in the film -- I think they're both immensely talented and I support both of them.

Q: If you're not an actor, what would be your job?

Peter Facinelli: I'd be working at Blockbusters so I could watch a lot of movies

Peter Facinelli: If I could do something else in the entertainment industry I'd be either a director or a writer...I'd have to be able to tell a story one way or another. I'm writing now and hope to direct some day.

Peter Facinelli: would like to do all 3 one day - write, direct and act

Q: Hi Peter, i've 14 years old, and i'm from Brazil, i wanted to ask you how was the fight scenes in Eclipse for you? And the preparation, it was hard?

Peter Facinelli: The fight scenes prep was tedious but fun. I enjoyed it immensely. Going to work and training, doing fight choreography and working out was fun. We had about 5 weeks to prep, so every day we were working really hard.

It wasn't like digging ditches, but it was fun to be able to go in and be a part of that. It became very competitive within the cast

Peter Facinelli: we're running low on time, but I can take one more question...

Q: What actors do you want to work with in the future?

Peter Facinelli: I'd love to work with Clint Eastwood, Sean Penn, Denzel Washington, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. I've been really fortunate to work with some really great, talented people in my career and I'm looking forward to continuing that.

Peter Facinelli: Really excited to be part of the Showtime family, and that the Twilight saga is premiering on Showtime. I hope everyone really enjoys it.

He's one of the last people you might expect to see show up on Fox News Channel, but Sean Penn will tonight.

Geraldo Rivera caught up with the actor and activist in Haiti today. The interview will air on "Geraldo at Large" tonight at 10pmET. Calling it "horror," Pean worries the interest in Haiti will wane. "Many of us will try very hard not to have that happen," Penn tells Rivera. "It can also be said that Haiti's quite used to having the spotlight come off of them. It's had needs for a long time. But I hope that it will refocus, that this is one of our neighbors."

It's no secret that Penn is no favorite of FNC's most popular host Bill O'Reilly. Last year, O'Reilly said that despite Penn being "a great actor" he'd boycott his films. O'Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter, "I'm just not going to give a guy who gives aid and comfort to people like (Iran president Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez and Saddam Hussein, when he was alive, my 10 bucks. That's my right as an American."
