When five Belgian architects, Axel Cailteux, Celine Hautfenne, Delphine Termote, Amelie Schweisthal and Julie Neuwels, created MetamorphOse, the firm became an outlet for the young minds to rethink architecture at various scales. “We use, as architects in different firms and with different centers of interest, our combined experiences of the city and the existing or future urban assets to put forward contemporary, sustainable or ephemeral interventions,” explained the architects. For their landscape installation in Beziers, France (which was created for Technilum for the festival “Heureuse Coincidence”), the architects have not created a new building volume or designed a large scale construction, but rather, “a simple gesture” that is just enough to make an impact on the way the space is perceived.

Hi people, I am doing this funky bit of code where i have the coordinates of several points making a single line... did some work to join the dots and kinda get the equation of a line/curve (cubic/quadratic beziers). This part is pretty much functioning well.:cool: Now, where i want help...

Is there a vector drawing program that hides all the splines, NURBS, beziers, and what-have-you? I just want to doodle and color!

I'd just like to be able to draw a picture and color it in like a coloring book... but still be able to edit the lines or do away with them completely, or deform the shapes... all the things that vector programs are best at.

Flash seems to be able to do this, but I don't want to buy (or pirate) an animation/programming studio when all I want to do is doodle cartoon animals.

Is there such a beast? For Windows?

Tim Wallace-Murphy's Hidden Wisdom: Secrets of the Western Esoteric Tradition (The Disinformation Company Ltd., New York, 352 pages, index, bibliography, notes,  $17.95) describes "wisdom" that isn't "hidden" so much as it has been repressed by religious and secular authorities.

For instance, there's plenty of information available for those seeking alternatives to established religion, from Egyptian mythology to Jewish mysticism, the druids and the gnostics and Freemasonry and Rosicrucianism -- all of which contributed, as Wallace-Murphy so accurately writes, to the thinking of the builders of the great cathedrals; leading teachers in ecclesiastical schools; philosophers; playwrights; poets such as Shakespeare, Goethe, Blake, and W.B. Yeats; and on artists and Renaissance giants such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. It is also the root from which sprang alchemy and modern science.

All religions have suppressed what they call "heresies," but the Roman Catholic Church is undoubtedly the grand champion suppressor -- and oppressor -- due to its great wealth and power in the countries of Western Europe that were conquered by the Romans and developed into major nations after the Roman Empire adopted Christianity and began suppressing previous beliefs.

In Chapter 11, beginning on Page 137, Wallace-Murphy describes the suppression of the Cathars, a group of Christians in southwestern France, who -- along with other groups who refused to accept the supremacy of the pope -- departed from Roman Catholic theology.

The chapter's title -- "The Crusade Against Fellow Christians; and the Founding of the Holy Inquisition" -- is startling, especially to those who mistakenly believe that the Crusades were directed solely against Islam, to free Jerusalem from the Muslim conquerors.  In fact, in 1204, even before the Church  brutally moved in earnest to wipe out the Cathars, Roman Catholic participants in the fourth crusade sacked Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire and the equivalent for the Eastern Orthodox Church of Rome for the Roman Catholics. The city is now called Istanbul. It was finally conquered by the Islamic forces of the Ottoman Empire in 1453.

By the 12th Century, the Occitan culture of the Languedoc area of southern France had developed many traditions which were in sharp contrast to the anti-democratic rule of the Roman Church -- a situation that Rome couldn't tolerate, the author said. Thus began the Albigensian Crusade, not long after the events of 1204 in Byzantium. It was a crusade against fellow Christians -- the Cathars believed in a "pure" form of Christianity, without the dogmas and doctrines of the Latin church. They lived in peace among Roman Catholics in many parishes, including Albi for which the Albigensian Crusade was named.

Thus, when the brutal suppression of the Cathars began, culminating in the siege of the city of Beziers in July 1209, the leaders of the "crusade" -- which notably didn't include the Knights Templar --  asked the papal legate what to do about the Roman Catholics who were probably in the majority in the area. He replied with a phrase that has come down to modern times: "Kill them all...God will know his own when they get to him!"

(For those interested in reading more about the Cathars, I recommend a book by Rene Weis that I read a few years ago, The Yellow Cross: The Story of the Last Cathars).

In Hidden Wisdom, Wallace-Murphy eloquently describes what he calls a hidden stream of spirituality that not only influenced literature, the visual and graphic arts and science, but which provides today alternatives to organized religion that so many seek.

It's a book that will appeal to followers of Dan Brown -- especially to readers of his bestselling book The Lost Symbol as it explains much of Brown's focus on the ancient mysteries.  Hidden Wisdom will also find readers among those interested in Freemasonry;  Sufism, Islamic mysticism; and the Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism. At least today, we don't have to worry about "crusades," even though the current pope once headed the Inquisition, which survives today under the name  "Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith."

(I wouldn’t make up a name like that.)Rent a car at Hertz opposite train station. Don't forget luggage at the hotel. Drive north about 20 miles past Carcassonne to the Chateau de Villereglan. hi folks, i´m using nuke 6.0.5 and added the original bezier tool (nuke 5.2) which works fine. but mostly i only use them for the alpha-channel and it´s anoying to set it manually after adding a new bezier node. so, how and where can i set the beziers default channels to alpha only? or even...

This church is built entirely of limestone on the edge of the same place "La Madeleine, surrounded by olive trees planted in pots and pink lavender. This former church was built in the 10th, 11 and 14 Century. Its bell tower, which is both bright and dark aisle today to remember the bloody events in the gloomy period of the Cathars.

In 1990, a ship lift facility in the vicinity of the lock staircase was built. With this lift, the so-called Wasserkeil, ships can quickly overcome the height difference.

The Cathedral of Saint-Nazaire: located on the heights Point of the city, it draws on all sides the view of the city, if we approach from a distance in Beziers on the streets of Narbonne. The Cathedral of Saint-Nazaire: located on the heights Point of the city, it draws on all sides the view of the city, if we approach from a distance in Beziers on the streets of Narbonne. The Hotel de Ville, the town hall dates from the 18th Century and is one of the attractions of the city. The city belongs to the southern French département of Hérault and lies on the river Orb and the Canal du Midi. Beziers is 20 km from the Mediterranean Sea, not far from the last foothills of the Massif Central in the level of the lower Languedoc. It is a city with more than 2700 years of history, which began with a tribal settlement on the banks of the Orb in the Neolithic Age. Beziers is a major transport hub. In addition to the waterways of the Orb and the Canal du Midi cruise in city streets RN112 (Castres to Agde), RN113 (Narbonne to Pezenas), D11 (direction Capestang and Carcassonne) and d909 (Bédarieux direction) and the A9 and A75 . The airport Béziers was increased in the years 2006 to 2007.

A tenor de lo acontecido en los últimos días en Haití, el mundo del toro, y el diestro francés Sebastián Castella más en concreto, se han volcado con las miles de víctimas de la tragedia. Es por ello que el torero galo ha tomado la decisión de encerrarse, por segunda vez en su carrera,  con seis toros de distintas ganaderías el jueves 13 de mayo en la plaza francesa de Nimes. En este festejo los fondos que se recauden irán a parar a los damnificados de la catástrofe. Por este motivo, el propio Sebastián Castella quiere, a través de su página web, «hacer un llamamiento a la ya demostrada  solidaridad de toda la afición taurina, española y francesa para llenar la plaza, con el fin de obtener la mayor recaudación posible que ayude a paliar, dentro de nuestras fuerzas, el desastre ocurrido», dice el espada de Beziers.Por otra parte, el empresario Francisco Cáceres y el rejoneador José Miguel Callejón trabajan en la confección de un espectáculo de rejones que tendrá lugar en la localidad cacereña de Navalmoral de la Mata el próximo 27 de enero, que tendrá idéntica finalidad que la gesta de Castella. De momento, en el cartel ya están fijos el propio José Miguel Callejón, Raúl Martín Burgos y Noelia Mota, pero, aparte, pretenden contar con la presencia de tres figuras del rejoneo.

Madrid.- El diestro francés Sebastián Castella se encerrará con seis toros en solitario el próximo 13 de mayo en el Coliseo romano de Nimes (sur de Francia) en una corrida a beneficio de los damnificados del terremoto que hace una semana asoló a Haití, el país más pobre del continente americano.

Según declaraciones de Castella en su página web, esta cita, en la que se lidiarán seis toros de distintas ganaderías, es "la más comprometida, importante y necesaria" de su carrera.

Primero por su "vinculación con el pueblo americano" y, sobre todo, porque "la integridad de los beneficios de la corrida irá a parar a los afectados".

Esta gesta de torear seis toros en solitario en Nimes será la segunda que afronte Castella en toda su carrera desde la tarde del 20 de septiembre del año 2008, cuando el diestro de Beziers cortó cinco orejas y un rabo, y salió a hombros en una histórica cita en la que se colgó el cartel de "no hay billetes" en la taquilla.

Un éxito que se espera repetir de nuevo, y para el que Castella ha hecho "un llamamiento a la, ya demostrada solidaridad de toda la afición taurina, española y francesa para llenar la plaza, con el fin de obtener la mayor recaudación posible que ayude a paliar, dentro de nuestras fuerzas, el desastre ocurrido en Haiti".

Castella, máximo triunfador de la temporada 2009, ha elegido el Coliseo de Nimes como marco para este gesto por varios motivos: porque es una de las plazas de más trascendencia del panorama taurino francés, porque es la que más aforo alberga -16.000 espectadores-, y porque fue uno de los cosos claves para él en la pasada campaña.

Unseeded Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis edged past Mardy Fish on Friday, dismissing the big American 6-4, 6-7(7), 7-6(5).

The two hour and 57 minute match could have ended after two sets, with Baghdatis holding a match point at 6-5 in the second set tiebreak.

Closing out the set on his first set point, Fish remained confident to begin the third set. Leading 1-0, and 3-2 in the deciding set, Fish couldn't sustain his momentum.

Baghdatis, who appears motivated to regain his top 10 form, overcame 16 aces in total by Fish to reach his second final in his last three events. Baghdatis was a winner in Stockholm, Sweden last fall (d. Oliver Rochus).

Baghdatis, who will contest his eighth final on Saturday (3-4 mark), told reporters that he couldn't be more thrilled with his current form.

“It was a tough one, and a bit of pressure today with the draw of the [Australian] Open and everything,” conceded the No. 42-ranked Baghdatis.  “So [there was] a bit of pressure. I had to stay concentrated, and I tried. I had some moments of the match that I lost my concentration, but the most important thing is that I won the match and I'm playing a final tomorrow, so that's pretty positive.”

Baghdatis will have another stern test on Saturday when he faces Richard Gasquet for the title.

Gasquet won an all-French semifinal on Friday, defeating Juliean Benneteau 6-4, 7-5.

In a battle of two all-court players, Gasquet drew first blood by breaking Benneteau at 2-1 in the opening set. The elder Frenchman would level the score, only to be broken in the eighth game.

Trailing by a set, Benneteau raised his game to lead 5-3. Serving to level the match, Benneteau's nerves came into play, allowing Gasquet to regain his form.

Reeling off four straight games, Gasquet broke Benneteau to win the match.

The one hour and 39 minute victory became the second straight for Gasquet over Benneteau. Gasquet had defeated Benneteau at the 2007 event in Sydney.

With the win, Gasquet advanced to his 12th career final, and first since Stuttgart in 2008. The 23-year-old Beziers native will also look to snap a two year title drought on Saturday. Gasquet's last title came in Mumbai in 2007.

Gasquet had this to say after his victory.

"I'm really happy because I won. It wasn't a great match, not an incredible level," said Gasquet. "I was a little bit tired in the second set, but I tried to play. I was a little bit lucky. I saved three set points on my serve after I broke him, so I played well on the big points. On the really important points I played better than him. I played some good shots at 5-4, and that made the difference."

"I'm in the final in Sydney on a great court, at a great tournament. I have no pressure with it. Just to play my game."

Gasquet and Baghdatis have never met on the ATP World Tour, though, the two players know each other quite well.

It will be the first meeting between the pair.  “It's very surprising because we played a lot of years together,” said Gasquet. “He's a nice guy and friend of mine. He lived in Paris, so I know him very well.”

“We used to play juniors together,” recalled Baghdatis. “He's a great player and he has a lot of talent. He looks like he worked hard this winter, and he's playing great tennis. I guess I'll enjoy my victory for today, and start thinking about the match for tomorrow.”

I'd give the slight physical advantage to Gasquet in Saturday's final.

American John Isner advanced to his second career final on Friday (Washington 2007), defeating No. 8 seed Albert Montanes 6-2, 7-6 (5).

Dismissing his third seeded opponent of the week, Isner jumped out the double break first-set lead.

Isner's serving prowess was matched by Montanes in the second set, with both men never conceding their deliveries.

Pounding 10 aces in the second set, Isner grabbed a slight mini-break lead to prevail in the tiebreak.

Defeating Montanes for the second straight time, Isner reflected on his first straight set win of the event.

"I played a very good first set and in the second I wanted to go ahead 2-0 and I couldn’t break him in the second game. That got me a little tired and took my momentum a little bit," explained Isner.

"I was happy to stay in that second set until the end and win it in the tie-break. It is good to finally win in straight sets."

With the win, Isner will next face former top 10 player, and Australian Open finalist Arnaud Clement. Clement defeated 2008 champion Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 7-6 (2).

Clement, who has dropped to No. 67 in the world, used his famed return-of-serve to break Kohlschreiber in the eighth game of the first set.

Leading by a set and on serve, Clement continue to press his German opponent. Squandering one break point chance mid-way through the set, Clement would eventually dominate the deciding tiebreak.

Never losing his serve throughout the one hour and 39 minute affair, Clement advanced to his first final since Nottingham in 2007.

The Frenchman will bid for his first title since capturing the Washington DC title in 2006.

Clement commented on his excitement of reaching another Tour level final.

“I am very happy to be in the final again," said Clement. "Since 1997, I have played between 23-30 tournaments a year and I have only been in ten finals, so of course it is special to be in a final. I think I improved in every match. It is important to play your best tennis at the end of the week, so I hope I can play my best match tomorrow. If I play like I did today I think I have a chance to win.”

Clement and Isner have never played on the ATP World Tour.

Considering the conditions, I'd say the final will go three sets and Isner will win.
