Let's say you work at a magazine and sometimes people send you clothes to play with. And let's say one lazy afternoon you get a box from QVC. With trepidation and excitement you reach for the scissors to cut it open, fold back the cardboard, and see a black label with the initials "RZ" staring back at you. Let's say that behind the tissue paper is a shiny red surface that you think might be a slip 'n slide, just in time for Hurricane Earl's Labor Day weekend arrival, but in actuality is a trench coat. Intrigued and still scared, you dig deeper and find a small object made of iridescent sequins that you hope is a diva koozie, but turns out to be a beret.

Let's say later that night, you're tuning in to your weekly new episode of The Rachel Zoe Project and you see Rachel and Brad reuniting at a vintage store in Milan, where Rachel tries on a boxy leopard jacket and says something like it would be great for her QVC line. Brad, ever the thoughtful gal Friday, suggests she make it with detachable sleeves, so shoppers can have a vest and jacket in one! After all you've witnessed and touched today, what do you do? Rig up the hose and find a patch of grass across the street for the weekend's BBQ Now With Slip 'N Slide? Or do you absorb the day's enlightenment, stay still, and probe further into the minds that brought it to you? This time, we choose the latter.

Things We Learned About Fashion:
• Styling is like farming. Brad: "I’m going to be harvesting Oscar gowns while I’m in Milan."
• When begging for a dress, even for a celebrity for the Oscars, you must suck up to the label. Brad peppers his pleading voice mails with phrases like, "Rachel is obsessed with it." Obsessed like Beyoncß?
• If stylists can't find gowns for their clients for the Oscars, they'll be forced to go naked, Brad reminds us.
• If you're rich and famous, you can get away with wearing $35 furs. Kate Hudson arrives in Rachel's London hotel room wearing a very chubby fur chubby, which she says she bought for $35 in a vintage store without knowing if it was real or fake. Rachel hides how grossed out she is by this, and touches it anyway, because Kate's super-famous and has such a great complexion. In this day and age of bedbugs we'd have shooed Kate away in that thing.
• Celebrities don't always understand normal people. Kate and Rachel discuss how fashion isn't as frivolous as everyone thinks it is because "it's an expression of one’s self." Kate adds, "When you wake up in the morning, what do you choose to put on to make you happy?" Well, not our fantasy Burberry runway looks, like they might. It's more like what we can afford on the sale rack that also happens to be cute.
• “I think there’s nothing sexier than a man in a turtleneck and a shearling," says Rachel. What, she doesn't want to see Rodger's thick tangle of man necklaces spilling into his chest hair? Later, when she meets Brad in Milan, he has a turtleneck on, and Rachel says he looks sexy. "Is that weird to call Brad sexy?" she wonders. Is it?
• Shopping should be as dramatic as possible, like a play or suspense thriller. Instead of saying something normal like, "OMG this is so cute, look!" to her shopping companion, Rachel turns stone-cold serious, puts on a fur coat, and says, "Brad, something else just happened," like she just found out about a friend's divorce.
• Wearing boots with an evening gown makes you look cool, says Rachel.
• Donatella Versace is "like a gay icon," Brad says. "She's like the Madonna of fashion." We thought Madonna was the Madonna of fashion, and Madonna was like the Donatella of pop music, but whatevs.
• The Oscars aren't about looking sexy. Rachel often puts her clients in Versace, but doesn't find anything at the Versace show because Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore probably won't want to be in super-sexy cutout dresses with thigh-high slits for this event.
• Dresses disappear every day. Pretty much all of the dresses Rachel has wanted for her clients have gone to other people. Including, funnily enough, the Marchesa gown Rachel was obsessed with, which we now know went to Sandra Bullock, sans shoulder bow.

Things We Learned About Life:
• When Kate Hudson calls and asks you to divert your life to London to help her dress for the Burberry show and be her date to it, you go.
• Wear the white hotel robe every chance you get. Rachel has an uncanny commitment to the white robe. She never gets to her hotel room and wears her clothes. We almost felt uncomfortable when she entertained Kate Hudson in her room in full out-of-doors dress, we're so used to seeing her in a suite with the robe on. No wonder she feels she can't give herself to a baby — she's given herself to terry cloth.
• "If you're so tired, just take a nap," says Rodger.
• "Just because you're in England doesn't mean you have to become English," says Rachel.
• "I never miss a Kate Hudson movie. Ever," Rachel says, describing one of the few moments we didn't long to experience firsthand what her life is really like.
• People are different around their friends. You know how you might start dating somebody, and they're so great and nice, and then they introduce you to their guy friends, and suddenly their voice drops a few octaves lower, "dude" is their favorite word, and the conversation suddenly drastically digresses to topics like a bet made years ago about some dude sleeping with a fat girl? Rodger is all too aware that Rachel's personality "comes out a little bit more" when she's around Kate, which is actually a very nice and loving way of putting it.
• "Cute clothes distract Rachel, it always works," says Brad, who wonders, as Rachel blissfully pilfers the vintage store in Milan, if she's come down with "Oscar amnesia."
• If you can never be alone with your wife, just pretend you are! Rodger tells Rachel if she wears thigh-high boots he won't let her out of the house, implying he's in heat. Brad and Joey tell him to keep the verbal foreplay to himself while they're in the room. Rodger protests that he never gets to be alone with Rachel so he has no choice. "I feel bad for Rodger because he never gets to see Rachel without her gaggle of gays around her, and that’s gotta get annoying," Brad says, quickly noting that that's just too bad for him because the great Oscar harvest is upon them. However, this training is probably what's turned Rodger into the perfect reality-television character, who is totally comfortable perusing designer vibrators for his wife's anniversary gift.

Wearing a dress cut so damn high that you could practically see if A-Rod's a nibbler or not, Cameron Diaz showed up to her 38th birthday party at a restaurant in NYC last night just a few minutes before he did. Definitely not diminishing in sexiness with age, Cameron Diaz looked picture perfect while out celebrating her 38th birthday in New York City on Monday night (August 30).

Clad in a cute black mini dress, the "Shrek" hottie joined NY Yankees baseballer beau Alex Rodriguez in grabbing a romantic dinner at The Lion on West 9th Street.

Spending a few hours inside the fancy Big Apple eatery, the pair separated as they exited to a pack of paparazzi before heading to A-Rod's apartment for the rest of the night.

The dinner date comes as Rodriguez continues to heal from a minor injury, with expectations for a return to the Yankees lineup by Sunday, September 5.

They still haven't officially come out as a couple - but Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriquez looked very much in love on the actress's 38th birthday last night.

Blizzard exec Rob Pardo has said the company would consider doing a movie based on StarCraft - providing the right caliber of talent was involved.

"We've always had an interest in seeing our stuff on film or TV. It's just tricky to find the right partners," he told MTV Multiplayer.

"We probably could have made a ['StarCraft'] movie or something on TV years and years ago, but it's really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties. That's always been the challenge for us."

Il y a quelques mois, nous vous avions montré une galerie de célébrités d’autrefois et leurs voitures. Voici une nouvelle fournée d’images. Et cette fois, il y a des Français dans le lot!

Vous ne connaissez sans doute pas Portofino Rubirosa, mais vous allez vouloir rêver d’être lui! Dans les années 40-50, il menait une vie avec beaucoup de femmes, beaucoup de Ferrari, beaucoup de soirées et un peu de travaux diplomatiques pour la République Dominicaine. “Je suis trop occupé pour travailler” a-t-il déclaré aux journalistes.
Il a été marié de nombreuses fois, mais une femme a résisté à lui: Zsa Zsa Gabor. L’actrice Hollywoodienne (qui est hélas aujourd’hui en fin de vie) partageait son gout pour les belles voitures. On la voit ici à bord de sa 300SL (son passager est “Rubi”.)

On avait déjà évoqué Miles Davis durant la première série de photos. Avant d’avoir une Miura, il roulait en Ferrari 275GTB/4. L’inventeur du terme “cool” conservait un calibre dans la boite à gants.

Pas facile de trouver des photos de “people” Français ouvertement fans de voitures. Elles ont peur de l’accusation “d’embourgeoisement” ou d’être taxé de pollueurs, sans oublier la hantise de l’invasion de la vie privée par les paparazzi. Des rappeurs passent régulièrement dans Auto-Moto et ils y dévoilent leurs énormes SUV tunés ou leurs Lamborghini… Puis, à la fin du sujet, on peut lire un discret “nous remercions le garage Machin pour le prêt des véhicules.”

L’un des rares “car guy” Français qui accepte de poser avec ses propres voitures, c’est Johnny Halliday. C’est avant tout un fan de la culture US des années 50-60. Or, la voiture faisait partie intégrante de cette culture.
En 1969, Henri Chemin (alors patron de la compétition chez Ford France) a l’idée d’une opération pipolo-promotionnelle: confier une Mustang à notre Johnny national pour une poignée de course. Premier rendez-vous: le rallye Monte-Carlo avec Chemin (ci-dessous, avec Johnny) en co-pilote. Pas facile de s’improviser pilote de rallye. Malgré un coach personnel, Johnny est trop lent. En plus, le pont arrière de la ‘Stang lâche. Relégué aux profondeurs du classement, l’équipage renonce.
Sur le plan de la communication, en revanche, c’était le jackpot. Des fans hystériques affluent sur le parcours du rallye pour “voir Johnny”. A chaque étape, la Mustang et son pilote sont pris d’assaut! Notez au passage que Johnny change de look: exit le gentil yéyé, il est désormais un rocker avec cheveux longs et boots (ce qui lui permettra de “survivre” artistiquement à la mode yéyé.)

Autre rocker, Keith Richards. A la grande époque des Stones, il possédait une Bentley Continental S3, baptisée “Blue lena”. Richards faisait alors vivre des villages entiers de Colombie. Alors, à l’instar de la Shelby de Jim Morrisson, la Bentley jouait les boules de flipper à quatre roues.

Dustin Hoffman n’est pas un fan de voitures stricto sensu. Néanmoins, il est le neveu de Max Hoffman, qui fut représentant Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Mercedes, Porsche, VW et plus tard BMW, pour la côte est des Etats-Unis. Comme par hasard, le premier job d’acteur de Dustin est une pub pour VW.
En 1966, le réalisateur Mike Nichols cherche une voiture pour le héros de son film Le Lauréat. Max Hoffman voudrait un vecteur de promotion de l’Alfa Spider. L’affaire est conclue!

L’histoire ne précise pas si Nichols a embauché Dustin Hoffman pour avoir la voiture. Ou bien si c’est une fois que Dustin a été embauché et qu’il a eu vent des soucis automobilistiques de Nichols, qu’il a pris son téléphone pour demander à son tonton s’il n’a pas une voiture à prêter…

Steve McQueen restera sans doute l’acteur le plus passionné de voitures (on a déjà évoqué sa vie ici.)
Plusieurs réalisateurs déjà s’étaient cassé les dents à vouloir retranscrire le sport automobile. Mais McQueen s’accrochera à son Le Mans. Le tournage a demandé un budget colossal et le succès commercial de ce (beau) documentaire vaguement maquillé en film d’action était illusoire. Ce film ruinera financièrement et humainement (sa première femme divorcera) McQueen. Evidemment, ensuite, il n’aura plus un cent pour courir ou même s’offrir une GT.
Steve McQueen devait bien sentir que toute sa vie, résultat de 15 ans de travail acharné, était en train de lui échapper. I don't remember the exact moment I realised my husband was famous. Maybe it was when a paparazzo ran backwards snapping at us with a long-lens camera as we took a stroll with our baby. Perhaps it was when the Daily Mail wrote a gushing article about "Prof Cox the Fox". Though when he turned up as a question on University Challenge, I finally had to concede that he'd actually become "one of those people off the telly".

When we first met, I was the expensively groomed television professional, working on mostly science and technology shows, and he was the newly appointed physics academic with a student's wardrobe and a single bed. All that remained of his music days with D:Ream were a few William Hunt suits in his wardrobe and framed backstage passes on his bathroom wall. It may have been my love of the Apollo moon missions or him telling me he worked at Cern, but we instantly struck up a geeky friendship. Together we started writing ambitious documentary ideas with the sole aim of "making science part of popular culture". Fast-forward 10 years and we're a lot closer to our goal, but it's not quite how I imagined it would be.

When Brian first started appearing on TV, he was more of a cult figure than a celebrity. People would occasionally come up to him with a question about black holes or the Higgs boson, having seen him on Horizon or This Morning. The only time he was asked for his autograph was after a talk he'd given in a school, or occasionally at a nerd gathering such as Skeptics In The Pub. Then he presented Wonders Of The Solar System and everything changed.

Wherever we went, people would stare, take photos with their phones or shout his name excitedly from passing cars. The novelty wore off, however, when it began to feel as though people were intruding into more private moments. In Sainsbury's, a couple of giggly middle-aged women ran up and thrust pieces of paper at him to sign. As Brian chatted to them about the physics A-levels their children were taking, I tried surreptitiously to sneak a pack of sanitary pads into our trolley. I needn't have bothered. I could have juggled a few boxes of tampons while whistling the theme tune to The Sky At Night and they still wouldn't have realised I was there.

A few years ago, I started to notice that the more Brian appeared on TV, the less interesting I became to other people. I started to morph from Gia Milinovich, independent woman with her own life and separate bank account, into "Mrs Brian Cox", then into "wife". Pre-fame, I was asked for my opinions; now, I'm asked what Brian thinks. During a discussion recently, someone said to me, "You only think that because your husband is a physicist", as if I am now incapable of my own thoughts. I am in the throes of what Edna Healey, Denis's wife, called Invisible Wife Syndrome.

As the importance of my brain declines, the focus on my physical appearance feels hawk-like. I am a mother with a young baby. Even at my most attractive, I feel frumpy, lumpy and overweight. When we were "papped" pushing the buggy, I was wearing no make-up and a breastfeeding T-shirt one size too big. After that day, with fears of the photo turning up in Heat above a comment about the "wonder" of Brian's dowdy, bovine wife, I went out and bought a ton of make-up. Now, at the very least, I put on a bit of mascara and some lipstick when I go out of the house with Brian. I've even started brushing my hair.

I worked for film producer Andrew Macdonald a few years ago. My favourite thing about him is that, even after having five kids together, he still talks about his wife Rachael Fleming as if they've only just started dating. I turned to her for advice. "The worst time was when Andrew had lunch with Cameron Diaz and he invited me along," she said. "After lunch, we all walked out of the restaurant and our picture was taken by the photographers outside. It was published with the caption 'Cameron Diaz, film producer Andrew Macdonald and friend.' Not wife, just friend. It was soon after I'd had our third child, so at least it didn't say 'fat friend'."

It's a strange dilemma. On the one hand, you don't want your husband's public life to encroach on your private life. On the other, you would like your existence, at the very minimum, to be acknowledged. As your partner is out in the public eye, you are keeping your shared "real life" afloat, often single-handedly. He needs clean pants, I wash them... it's dull, it's not glamorous, but it's a vital part of the whole package that is "Him".

While Wonders was on TV, it seemed that everyone was declaring their love for Brian: young girls, older women, gay men, even throngs of straight men admitted to having a bit of a man crush on him. At one point, on Twitter, Sarah Cawood asked Lauren Laverne to set her up with Brian, as he'd been on her show that morning... All I could think was, "Really? He used to be a bus spotter. Sure, he's cute, but he really is a massive nerd." Later that day, the baby threw up on me, so I tweeted to Sarah Cawood that I'd be very happy to share my husband with her 50/50, if she took over the baby vomit cleaning duties. Unfortunately, she declined.

When Cheryl and Ashley Cole split up, a list of possible new partners for Cheryl made the rounds on the web. Brian was on it. Silly as it may sound, I felt a bit jealous. I've also been unsure how to react when people email me to tell me they hate my husband; when two separate people "jokingly" told me they wished me dead so they could have him; and when another said she was going to marry him when he divorces me. As time goes on, I'm finding it easier to deal with, but when I saw a tweet from someone telling their friend they were currently in bed with Brian, I am ashamed to say that I actually turned to check he was still in bed with me.

As I sit here and write, Brian has been in Africa for two weeks filming his new series, Wonders Of The Universe. He will be back again in just over a week, then will spend a month working on his next book, after which he will go off filming again... And on and on it will go until he finishes filming in November, when he will be busy with something else, no doubt. The reality is that I spend 90% of my time on my own with the kids while he's out spreading the word about science.

It's the curse of every wife – or husband – of a successful person, famous or not. You marry someone because you want to spend the rest of your life with them, and soon realise that "the career" is going to take up most of the rest of their life, not you. There are, of course, obvious benefits, but when you're eating dinner on your own for the thousandth time, success, fame or money don't make it any easier to swallow. Though, admittedly, the wine is much nicer.

In order to remain sane, I need to keep my own identity and life separate from him. As Brian has made such a popular and critically acclaimed series, I am nervous about venturing back into television myself. I fear that anything I do would be unfairly compared with what he's done. Also, now that I am simply just "the wife of a celebrity", the only accepted way into television is to lose a stone, dye myself orange and demand a place in the jungle where I could shower in my bikini, then release a fitness video. The respect for my professional abilities has declined in inverse proportion to the number of Google searches for "Is Prof Brian Cox divorced yet?"

The first signs were there five years ago when Brian and I went to pitch some ideas to a producer at a well-known production company. I'd had a science-technology series broadcast on Channel 4 several months earlier, and Brian's appearances as the science expert on This Morning were going very well. Our agent called us the sci-tech version of Richard and Judy.

From the start, the producer's attention was on Brian. Every time I spoke, he'd look at me as though I was interrupting their conversation. At one point, I came out with what I thought was an excellent idea. The producer again turned towards me, said nothing and then turned slowly back to Brian. About a minute later, Brian repeated my idea almost word for word and the producer told him it was brilliant.

As we left the building, I angrily told Brian how awful the whole experience was for me. Of course, he hadn't noticed a thing. As far as he was concerned, it was a very successful meeting with a very interesting, and interested, man. I told him I felt my very presence was upsetting their budding bromance, that I was some unwanted tag-along girlfriend. "I felt like bloody Yoko Ono in there!"

Several years ago, when I was working on a music programme, I'd wear a Yoko Ono T-shirt just to annoy the musos on the production team. I'd tell them my favourite Beatle was Yoko and watch in delight while their faces went bright red with anger. I wasn't lying though.

Yoko was, and is, interesting in her own right. She's a remarkable artist and a unique thinker. All of the things you think of John Lennon doing in the late-60s and early-70s were inspired entirely and directly by Yoko: the avant-garde art, the politics, the whole peace and love thing. She is responsible for the Lennon we remember and love today, and yet she is at best ignored and at worst vilified... For what, exactly? Being loved by him?

After Brian and I had a couple more meetings with TV producers, at which I was somewhere between "invisible" and "tolerated", I decided to move on from television to produce websites and write more. Though I've accepted that Brian and I will probably never make any of the programme ideas we wrote when we first started working together, I'm happier not being the Yoko in our partnership.

And now, several years on, here we are. Brian has made a well-loved science series and I, well, until I work out how I fit into all of this, I'll just continue washing his pants.

Paramount is looking to redo, reorganize and revamp its Mission: Impossible series after disappointing box office numbers for Knight and Day have execs concerned that Tom Cruise is no longer the box office draw he used to be. That the inclusion of Jeremy Renner was done to one day replace Cruise in the franchise with Tom having a smaller role. Which is fine, the guy can't play the part of Ethan Hunt for forever.Ok, so he's slipped a little, but Knight and Day wasn't Cruise's fault. He was the best thing in that movie which started out great then spiraled into a whirlpool full of shit. (I can swear again! No, I won't abuse it. Now I'm used to not swearing.) Having Cameron Diaz alongside him didn't help. She was the worst thing in the movie because she and Cruise had zero on screen chemistry. Don't count Cruise out yet when it comes to putting butts in seats. He's got my ticket everytime.Here's what the trades are saying:Paramount is on a mission to redo the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. Bird will shoot in Vancouver, Prague, Dubai and the U.S. Deals for the fourth "Mission" are said to be structured to hold down upfront costs, with more potential compensation from the backend. More recently, there's been debate over Cruise's B.O. appeal. This summer, 20th Century Fox's "Knight and Day" grossed a disappointing $75.8 million domestically. Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has completed her jail term (13 of 90 days) and, on Tuesday, her court-ordered stint at an inpatient rehab facility (23 of 90 days). So now that she's back on the outside, can the onetime rising Hollywood starlet get her career groove back?

Though the annals of Tinseltown are littered with stories of crackups that actors and actresses were unable to bounce back from, Lohan need look no further than Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. for proof that once-left-for-dead careers trashed by drugs and erratic behavior can indeed be revived and thrive once again.

Lohan, who is slated to star in the biopic of early porn actress Linda Lovelace, "Inferno," in addition to an appearance in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez trailer-turned-feature "Machete," has a lot going for her, a number of experts told MTV News.

"Lindsay Lohan is someone we grew up with," said public-relations veteran and image-rehab specialist Howard Bragman of Fifteen Minutes PR. He recalled how her seminal work in 2004's "Mean Girls" affected a whole generation of teenagers and still resonates today. "She's a girl who's really transfixing when you watch her on the screen."

Fox News legal analyst Kimberly Guilfoyle noted that Lohan is a strong actress who carried movie reboots like 1998's "The Parent Trap" when she was only 11.

"There's talent there, there's the hard work," said Ryan Gilbey, a film critic for the New Statesman, who praised Lohan's "manic" work in 2003's "Freaky Friday" and a small, but memorable, self-confident appearance in the 2006 movie "A Prairie Home Companion."

But due to the personal drama in her offscreen life, Guilfoyle said Lohan began to develop a reputation for being flaky and difficult on movie sets, not showing up and being unreliable, a condition she said is consistent with someone with a substance-abuse problem.

Hedging his bets, Bragman predicted one of three outcomes for Lohan over the next decade: "She'll either be forgotten, she'll be dead, tragically, or she'll have an Academy Award. I pray that she has the Academy Award."

All three agreed that with rehab and jail behind her, Lohan has what it takes to get her personal and professional lives rebooted. "I think that we are a very forgiving nation, we love to see people rehabbed, rehabilitated, we love a good comeback," Bragman said, suggesting that LiLo's versatility allows her to do drama, comedy and, in the next few years, the type of romantic comedies that have been the go-to move for stars like Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston.

Robert Lindsay, president of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency, said, aside from getting her professional life in order, four-time rehab veteran Lohan needs to focus on her sobriety and figure out what she's going to do to change her habits and lifestyle. Guilfoyle also pointed out that there are currently no legal issues that would prevent Lohan from getting more work on a movie set.

"I feel like people in the film industry are rooting for her," Gilbey said. "[Director Quentin] Tarantino has been saying great, supportive things about her and how brilliant she's in this movie he's produced ['Machete']."

One good role and Lohan could change people's perceptions about her.

"You're strong and you're smart and you're powerful and you have it in you to get beyond this," Bragman counseled. "And you have to live in the future and not in the past and stay clean and sober."

The Rachel Zoe Project has its human moments. There are many inhuman moments, to be sure, such as last week’s episode where Rachel had to style Naomi Campbell’s charity fashion show to raise money for Haiti victims, and seemed more often than not to fail to acknowledge how vast the difference was between members of team Zoe and most citizens of Haiti. But last night Rachel didn’t have to deal with any charity fashion shows, just plain Fashion Week shows, and came back down to earth from her dark cloud of stress a little bit to enjoy her twelfth wedding anniversary with Rodger. After she enjoyed Fashion Week, that is.

Zoe also grapples with a very real problem that so many working women — supermodels aside — worry about: children, and the timing of when to have them. Rachel can’t shake her fear that taking a break to bring new life into the world will ruin all the hard work she’s done to get herself to the position in the industry she now enjoys. And this, coupled with her crazy fetish for fashion, seems more powerful than her mothering instincts. Besides, how does one have children when clothes are her children? • Assistants can sit front-row if someone doesn't show up, which is what Brad does when there's an empty seat near Rachel at Oscar de la Renta. But husbands like Rodger can sit front-row all the time.
• If you have the opportunity to have Brian Atwood design a shoe for you, make it as scary as possible. Rachel goes with something like an over-the-knee boot with a "tranny heel" and chain up the back.
• Rachel only wears "plain underwear." This was one of many bits of oversharing that occurred in Kiki de Montparnasse when Rachel's sister went with Rodger to help him pick out some lingerie to give her as an anniversary gift.
• Interestingly, while Rachel will have Brian Atwood design the shoe-iest shoe he can possibly make for her, and generally likes everything on her body to be big, bold, and over-the-top, she wants her underwear to be very simple. Maybe there is a universally inverse relationship, like a mathematical formula or something, between a hard-core fashion person's outerwear and her underthings. But a lot more of them will probably have to get reality shows for us to find out, and we're not even sure we want to.
• Treat fashion shows like gossip items. "You have no idea what just happened at Derek Lam," Brad tells Rachel over the phone after the show. You might expect him to next say, "[Insert famous industry person's name here] went insane in the middle of the show, stormed onto the runway screaming like a baboon, punched a model in the hip bone, took her own pants off, and then ran out the door." Instead he just says, "Cameron’s Oscar gown is in there."
• Rachel owns — and wears — sequin zebra tops. She is probably the only non-drag queen who can get away with this.
• Fashion warps the brain. Hairstylist Joey calls the QVC show "like, the most interesting experience I’ve ever had ... Because it’s shopping and a fashion show."
• Fashion-disinclined men will internalize all kinds of random fashion knowledge by marrying a fashion lady, if they truly love them. Rodger tries to sell Rachel on the black lace thong he bought her by saying, "If you don’t want seams to show — isn’t this nice?"
• The fashion industry can be very fake. Rachel says she and Marc Jacobs "actually coined this term for each other: non-fashion love." Yes, they needed to amend their vocabularies to define their relationship among the sea that is fashion's fake ones.
• Going to the Marc Jacobs show is a fabulous way to spend a wedding anniversary. Even Rodger, who complains the whole episode about having to spend his anniversary at Fashion Week, liked it so much he exclaims afterward, "How sick was that?" Aw, he really loves Rachel. And ... clothes.

Things We Learned About Life:
• Overpack for trips so you can talk about it! Brad on his Fashion Week packing: "I only brought three suitcases. I’m turning into Rachel — it’s really bad." It's not really bad — it's the world's opportunity to recognize how fashion he is.
• Experimenting with one's own accent can lead to a dangerous loss of control. Brad's speaking flamboyances become more exaggerated with each episode, and last night reached dangerous levels. He turned extravaganza into "extravagAAAAHnza"; major into "majOYar"; and blouses into "blouZes."
• Being a princess is all about wearing the right dress. Rachel says that Cameron Diaz hasn't had a "princess moment" in a while, never mind that she's constantly on magazine covers and is, like, one of the biggest movie stars in the world. No, that's not princess. White dresses on red carpets are princess.
• If you are a crazy fan who talks the way Christina Applegate and Cameron Diaz do when they prank-call Selma Blair at work in that movie The Sweetest Thing, and approach Rachel's car to take photos and gush, she will entertain your deep longing to interact with her.
• Husbands are giant wusses in lingerie stores. Rodger is absolutely terrified of the glitter nipple pasties, lube, "restraints," and vibrator the Kiki de Montparnasse woman tries to sell him. However, he should man up, and buy his wife the vibrator with the lingerie, because the lingerie is mostly for his enjoyment, not hers, so at least the vibrator kind of suggests that he's thinking of her enjoyment too. Hell, writing about this is awkward!
• Launching a QVC line doesn't leave a lot of time for a baby. While Rodger talks endlessly the entire episode about having a baby, Rachel talks about work. "Designing is kind of like the next chapter of my life and of my career," she says at the strange event that was the QVC fashion show. So much for putting any buns in any ovens.
• True love happens when husbands and wives are proud of each other. Rodger, who says he feels more in love with Rachel now than in all of their seventeen years together, is just beside himself watching his wife at the QVC show. "When I first met her I thought she wouldn’t even have a career," he says. But watching her now as a "fashion icon" is "surreal," he adds. Um, aw?
• Enjoy the simple life while it lasts. Rodger longs for the old days when his and Rachel's biggest concern was "What time are we going out?" Now he has to worry about Rachel's outfits, Brad's outfits, Rachel's hair, Brad's glasses, Joey's neon V-necks ...
• Buying your own anniversary gift is okay as long as you buy your spouse something, too. Rachel buys herself rose gold handcuff bracelets with diamonds on them, which ironically goes perfectly with the lingerie Rodger bought her at the fancy fetish store.
• Personalized gifts are the best kind. Rachel dies when Rodger gives her a Barbie he had custom-made in her image. Naturally, Rachel is obsessed with Barbie, and this more than makes up for how much she hated that he just gave her a black lace thong on national television.
• You don't have to have a baby because your family happens to be full of baby people and tells you to all the time to have one. Rachel says her family wanting her to have a child is "a constant weight on my shoulders every single day." Her sister, who has two kids and lives in the suburbs, encourages her to go for it, but Rachel says she doesn't want her sister's life and that basically, she values her career more than having a kid. And this is okay — not every woman is dying for babies! Too bad Rodger doesn't, um, have a uterus, which would save Rachel the bother.
